Barnsdale Gardens

The Avenue, Exton, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 8AH

Barnsdale Gardens: Originally the home of the BBC's Gardeners’ World TV show, Barnsdale now houses 38 individually designed garden 'rooms', linked by beautifully landscaped borders. The newest addition is a Winter Border dedicated to Barnsdale's founder Geoff Hamilton and opened by Gardeners’ World presenter Carol Klein- it features many unusual plants donated by his friends, family and colleagues. The famous TV allotments and kitchen gardens now supply the Barnsdale Tearoom which offers fresh, seasonal food that is sourced, wherever possible, from local food heroes, as well as home made daily specials and decadent cream teas. A year-round menu of courses promises inspiration for garden-lovers, artists and crafters and families of ages will have lots of fun at one of the many weekend events that are free with garde entry. Whether you’re a keen gardening enthusiast, someone with a tiny courtyard or a visitor looking for a wonderful day out, Barnsdale Gardens is simply blooming with great ideas.

Barnsdale Gardens is part of the following Travel Ideas:

The Top Twenty Places to see Snowdrops by Natalie French

"With 38 individual gardens across an eight acre site, Barnsdale offers great diversity for horticultural lovers. From 11th -24th February, 10am – 4pm, their annual Spring Flower Fortnight takes place, showing off lots of fresh new foliage, including: drifts of daisy-like Anemone blanda, snowdrops, dwarf iris and daffodils. The nursery is also open every day so you can get your green fingers on your favourite plants to take home."
