Blair Castle has been home to the Atholl family for over 750 years, witnessing both turbulent and peaceful times. Now open as a visitors attraction, the family history is brought to life against a backdrop of fine 18th century interiors and Scots Baronial architecture, in 30 rooms. There are also extensive gardens, a restaurant and gift shop on-site.

The story will take you from Mary, Queen of Scots to the Civil War, and from the Act of Union to the Jacobite cause and the battle of Culloden, and from the Isle of Man to Queen Victoria’s love affair with the Scottish Highlands and her presentation of colours to the Atholl Highlanders.

There is lots to see and do at Blair Castle from taking the audio tour around the 30 rooms, wandering the extensive gardens or feeding the red deer in the deer park. A carefully curated exhibition of historical clothing in exquisite condition, dating back to the 18th and 19thcenturies, from the Jacobite’s through to the Victorian era, with some court dresses over 250 years old. The award-winning exhibition features 18 outfits directly from the castle archives, including ballgowns, dresses, jackets and children’s outfits. The exhibition is returning for the 2023 season, showcasing rare and unseen accessories from the castle archive, including hats & fans.
