The Ruskin Museum is acclaimed by the Rough Guide to The Lake District, as `the most thought-provoking in the Lakes´. Telling the story of Coniston from the Stone Age to the Jet Era, it provides a masterly introduction to Coniston´s two blue-eyed boys, John Ruskin, (Britain´s greatest critic of art and architecture, who became a subversive critic of society and radical political economist), and the Speed Ace and `Boy´s Own´ hero, Donald Campbell, who broke seven World Water Speed Records, four on Coniston Water, in his Bluebird K7 hydroplane. Copper, slate, sheep, geology and lace complete the picture.
