Watersmeet Hotel

Woolacombe, Devon, EX34 7EB

The phrase sea view was probably invented to describe the best asset of the Watersmeet Hotel. The vista across the Devon’s Woolacombe Bay is simply ridiculously perfect and it has been suggested that to sit at one of the table and chair sets dotted about the terraced manicured lawns and look downwards at the roaring surf might just be the ultimate in relaxation. A former Edwardian gentleman’s retreat, the Watersmeet has been transformed into an elegant seaside hotel with every bedroom positioned to get maximum benefit from the hotel’s cliffside position. Many bedrooms have balconies too, making it easy to understand why some guests prefer to stay in their room and peacefully admire the view. More stunning views are to be had in the restaurant but if it’s sunny then the terrace is where you can lunch or alfresco by the pool after a hearty National Trust coastal walk. Bistro and table d'hote restaurants - 2 AA rosettes for fine cuisine.
Indoor & outdoor pool and spa. New treatment room now open.

Watersmeet Hotel also has a Wedding Venue:

Hotels for the half term to please the whole family by Dinah Hatch

"Just spectacular views down to the pool, the lawns and the ocean beyond makes Watersmeet Hotel in Devon’s Woolacombe a must-visit. All but two rooms in this elegant country house by the sea has a view of the coastline. Overlooking a secluded sandy beach, you can sit in the lounge or restaurant and it practically feels like you are on the beach (but without the sand in your lunch). Do the kids need anything more? If so, there’s the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep, a deeply cool surfing scene in Woolacombe and the Victorian seaside village of Mortehoe to explore. Can’t be bothered to leave? The hotel has an indoor pool with hot spa and steam room and a heated outdoor pool surrounded by beachside gardens at your disposal plus a host of treatments on offer."

Ten Places to Stay Near Water by Kate Simon

"Woolacombe Bay provides the seafront action at this hotel in Devon. Just drink in the views from its 29 bedrooms - a panorama that takes in Combesgate Beach, Lundy Island and Baggy Point. Book a room with a balcony and watch the sunset crown the scene each evening. If you want to get into the briny, this place has some of the best surfing in the country."
