If you love eating out at the best restaurants in Britain but are often put off by the price tag than these are the restaurants for you! Early bird eating not only means great value but you can also escape the queues and chaos that often goes hand in hand with eating out at peak times, not to mention after pudding, you will still have the night ahead of you to go drinking, or dancing, or even just bed.
St Vincent

With grilled leg of lamb steak, fillets of plaice or chicken liver pappardelle featuring on the early bird specials, it's difficult to think of a reason to stay away. Part of the prestigious 21 Hospitality group, Caffe Vivo is one of Newcastle's top Italian restaurants. And the best part? A very generous early bird window ranging from 12 – 10pm every day except Saturday.

Contrast Brasserie

To visit Inverness and miss out on dining at Contrast Brasserie would be a culinary crime. Enjoy a pot of steamed Shetland mussels whilst gazing at the river Ness winding its way towards the Highlands. This picturesque location is the cherry on the cake for an early dinner at great value (between 17.00 – 18.30 three courses is £14.95). Why not enjoy the restaurant's locally sourced produce as a pre-theatre treat.

The Angel Inn

This 18th Century Inn is the archetypal traditional English pub. Set in idyllic North Yorkshire the rolling hills of the Dales are a beautiful backdrop to your dining experience. With locally sourced meat from the Yorkshire Dales, the freshness of the restaurant's produce is hard to beat. The early bird menu has been known to include the signature ‘Little Moneybags' of seafood, wrapped in a filo parcel with lashings of lobster jus.
