Shugborough Hall garden
Shugborough Hall, an important 18th century riverside garden, houses temples, ruins and memorials set amongst trees and winding shrubberies. Includes the first Chinese-style tea-house in Britain. Between the house and the river are terraces and a grand 19th century parterre with clipped yews and many vases. Herbaceous borders have been planted to attract butterflies and bees and are grouped in small beds. New for 2006 is the opening of the walled garden, once a centre of horticultural excellence for growing pineapples, lemons, melons and vines.
