The bride and groom usually choose to stay one mile apart the night before their wedding: one at one of the beautiful farm cottages "on the hill", and the other in country-chic bedrooms at Carfraemill itself.
Couples have lots of location options for their ceremony. Carfraemill has a beautiful marquee and an oak-panelled reception room. Alternatively, there is an "on the hill" outdoor wedding or barn ceremony spot. Others choose the local church, perched on top of a hill, or state drawing rooms at the local castle. For the reception, the wedding can continue in the same location or transition to a second location.
Photos can be taken in dramatic landscapes, with open skies, in atmospheric woodland or in Carfraemill's garden.

Wedding breakfast menus are written with you to suit the style and atmosphere of your big day. If you'd love a 5-course showstopping meal, Carfraemill will design a menu for you. If one would prefer some simple sharing food, the wedding coordinator will advise on what will look and taste amazing. Set drinks packages are available, but there is complete flexibility for bespoke options.
Carfraemill offers 10% off weddings on Monday to Thursday. For all weddings, guests will receive a discount on their accommodation bookings at Carfraemill.
All bookings include a complimentary "one year anniversary" stay at Carfraemill, so one can reminisce and relive an unforgettably happy wedding day.
What Extra facilities does Carfraemill have to assist couples to have the perfect day?
Carfraemill has 10 bedrooms on site, as well as 2 hillside cottages (increasing to 4 in 2019).
The marquee (up to 300 guests) is stunning and comes with twinkly fairy lights across the ceiling, tables, chairs, dancefloor, bandstand, bar, crockery, cutlery, glassware and linen. It's also the perfect venue to dress up exactly as one wishes. An additional bar made from barrels and crates can be provided, to use as a gin bar, cocktail bar, prosecco bar, shots bar or cake bar, for example.
The oak-panelled reception room (up to 140 guests) is also provided, with everything you need other than flowers, although these can be arranged for you, if required.

Carfraemill is 22 miles south of Edinburgh, near to the Royal Burgh of Lauder in the Scottish Borders.
It's close to the junction of the A68 and A697, which makes it easy to access for guests coming from the North (e.g. Edinburgh Airport, Edinburgh, Glasgow, rest of Scotland) or from the South (Newcastle Airport, Berwick-upon-Tweed rail station, London, England).
