Overview

The Old Stores is a darling little cottage nestled in the beautiful seaside town of Mousehole, Cornwall. Perfect for couples, this lovely retreat boasts a roll-top bath, a woodburner and is just a stone's throw from the sea - plus it is dog and baby-friendly!

What makes a stay at The Old Stores unique?

The Old Stores has a small private paved courtyard area with a bistro set for outside dining or a morning coffee. The sandy beach is two minutes' walk from the cottage so you can be sat on the beach or the harbour wall in no time. The cottage is next door to 2 Fore Street, an award winning restaurant with a Raymond Blanc trained chef. The restaurant will happily deliver meals if you'd like to spend a lazy night in together, details are in the cottage. You will also be welcomed by a generous welcome hamper filled with Cornish goodies.

What is the capacity for The Old Stores?

The whole of the upstairs is opened up to the beams to create a wonderful boutique loft-style bedroom. A king-sized bed, a double roll-top bath - perfect for a couple! A baby in arms and a well behaved dog is also very welcome to stay.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Mousehole area?

Mousehole is also home to The Sea Salts and Sail festival, a celebration of maritime heritage with historical photography, crab-pot making, smoked fish, barbecues, cakes and an almighty hog roast with beers, lagers, ciders and wine. Voted one of Britain's best walks by The Telegraph, the six-mile circular ramble to picturesque Lamorna cove shows the best of the nearby coast. The 23rd December welcomes Tom Bawcock's Eve, where a lantern procession through the streets celebrates the much-loved ancient tale of fisherman Tom's braving of treacherous seas to feed the village when no one else would dare. Sit back and watch the parade with a creamy hot chocolate and the world-famous Mousehole Lights.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Your first stop has to be 2 Fore Street. A relaxed and stylish bistro-style harbourside restaurant with stunning views across Mount's Bay, everything from the food and service to the views and ambience is divine. Head to Rock Pool café for fluffy scones and a hot pot of tea in mismatched vintage china cups, perfectly accompanied by outstanding views of St Michaels Mount. At chillier points of the year it's the best place in Cornwall to relax with coffee and cake whilst watching the Atlantic heave and swell in the winter winds. There is also always the Ship inn which is mouseholes proper pub with hearty pub grub.
