Overview

Stearn Cottage is steeped in history, situated within the stable courtyard of the Stowlangtoft Estate. The Beautifully renovated building still contained some of its original features including the beautiful shuttered doors. Through these doors you open onto the living area, complete with its original brick floor and log burner. The large dining table is perfect for getting all the family around for those all important occasions. Leading off the main living area are two of the three bedrooms including the double room with doors opening onto the patio. The fully fitted kitchen provides all your need to whip up a culinary masterpiece for friends and family, and the modern bathroom has includes a bath for those long soaks at the end of the day. The steep stairs take you to the mezzanine where the second twin bedroom can be found, and one of the sofas converts into another double, perfect for those friends popping round for dinner. The cottage boasts its own private patio, south facing this is the perfect place to kick back and unwind with a glass of what you fancy. Beyond the patio communal landscaped gardens stretch before you. Stowlangtoft estate can provide horse facilities should you wish to bring yours with you, as well as offering a wide range of footpaths and cycles routes across the 1000 acre estate. The estate has a rich sporting heritage and the current owners have continued to honour this by offering a number of driven shooting days throughout the year. The estate can even boast of its royal connections as the list of guests include Edward VII.

Reviews

We stayed in the Amherst House with our 2.5 year old son and we didn't want to leave. It was for a get together with friends (16 of us) so we had 4 of the cottages booked. They are all of a similar standard. The House is VERY well equipped, you will not need to take anything with you as they have everything covered. The quality of the fixtures and fittings is of the highest standard and looks great. The house was nice and snug and looks amazing at night with some low lighting on whilst snuggling up on the large couch. Nearby (about 15 secs walk) is a nice restaurant and bar which is a converted stable and looks great, again we didnt want to leave. The grounds are great for walking in and exploring the small areas of woods were great fun for our toddler, he expended SO much energy chasing pheasants that he slept for 13 hours straight! I would recommend this for families and couples, it was well worth the money and we will be back.

We stayed in the Coach House - it's the best equipped holiday rental I've ever stayed in. It is light and spacious and very clean. Really nice touches are the toys, dressing up clothes and books for children - toddlers love to play with something different and my granddaughter was no exception. She had a whale of a time, with walks and a wooden play frame outside, and lots of space and toys inside. It's a very peaceful, quiet and exceptionally pretty location. The Dark Horse restaurant across the courtyard is ideally situated for a meal, and has a varied menu of tasty well presented food. A word of warning - there is no phone signal, but free Wifi can be used to make calls.

Thank you so much, six of us stayed to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. It was a really fabulous standard well equipped quiet and relaxing. We didn't do a lot of exploring because the weather was so dreary but we enjoyed it immensely. There is a restaurant there too but we had already decided to cook on the first night and go into town on the second night. A real get away from it all with all the home comforts except mobile phone signal - bliss!
