The Monmouthsire town of Chepstow is on the River Wye close to the first Severn road bridge. The river provides some lovely walks along the valley with views of the woods and cliffs.The castle is well worth a visit being one of the oldest stone castles left in Britain. Nearby is Chepstow racecourse which is the venue for the Welsh Grand National as well as several other meetings throughout the year.
