Overview

Lake Lodge in Maxey is a five-star self-catering facility that welcomes families looking to relax in this scenic part of Cambridgeshire, a short drive from Peterborough. A luxury holiday home on the seashore with boats, kayaks, open-water swimming, and tennis. Set in 30 quiet acres of lakes, woodlands and gardens, this extremely well-equipped home is popular with guests looking for a stress-free relaxing break or an on-site activity venue.

What do you think makes a stay at Lake Lodge unique?

Lake Lodge is a well-equipped family home and ideal for multi-generation family get-togethers as well as groups of friends or business colleagues.   In a relaxing environment guests can enjoy tennis, rowing, kyacking or swimming, walking in the extensive grounds, observing bird and wildlife (kingfishers and otters can often be spotted)  or just relaxing in the lounge or on the patio enjoying views of the lake.  The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and babies and children are well catered for.  Up to two dogs can join their owners on holiday.

Market Deeping is just a short drive away and supplies all your needs from supermarkets to an exceptionally good butcher and deli.  There are several restaurants and take-away outlets, some of which deliver to the house.

Can you suggest any activities or things to do while staying in the Peterborough area?

Dont miss the attractive market town of Stamford just 7 miles away.  It is full of lovely restaurants and individual shops which you can find wandering through its alleyways and the odd cobbled street. The Water Meadows, which run alongside the river Welland, are a short stroll from the town centre.  Don't leave without visiting Burghley House, a beautiful stately home with unusual gardens set in Burghley Park.

The small county of Rutland, the other side of Stamford, has some pretty towns as well as Rutland Reservoir.

Belvoir House and Belton House at Grantham are within easy reach and, for those who like shopping, Springfield outlet centre is near Spalding.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Although the pub at Maxey does not servce food it is renowned for its real ales and gins.  The surrounding villages all have pubs with very good restaurants, as well as Market Deeping and Stamford,  a list of which can be found in the house where family favourites are recommended.

What is the capacity for Lake Lodge?

The house can accommodate 8 adults and two children as well as 2 dogs.

There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a family bathroom, including bath and shower, downstairs as well as a separate cloakroom.  Upstairs has a master suite with a king sized bed, dressing room and ensuite shower room as well as a king/twin bedded room, also with an ensuite shower room.

Two fold up beds or cots are available for children as well as high chairs and stairgates.

Other Information

There is plenty of room for several cars on the drive and, if you need to bring extra guests, at an extra cost, up to three tents can be erected on the rear lawn where there is an outside shower room and toilet.

Bouyancy aids are provided and must be worn when on the water.  Tennis rackets and balls are also supplied.

Reviews

We(8 adults - 4 couples) had a wonderful weekend at this superb lakeside haven. Very attractive, and extremely well equipped. The lodge provided comfort as well as fine facilities, boating and swimming, tennis and barbecue, plus 35 acres of woodland walks. Friendly locals and a good real ale pub made it perfect!
