Review of Gardener's Cottage

Gardeners cottage is exceptionally fantastic. It’s setting is perfect for relaxing and the view from the windows are the best you could wish for. The wildlife around the grounds of the estate is also exceptional. The birds that come to the garden and the closeness of the dear and red squirrels is splendid. One evening we had 12 dear in the field next to the garden and often there would be pods of dear in the grounds of the house. The house itself is clean nicely decorated and comfy beds with nice bedding and fluffy towels, we were there when it was freezing outside and the rooms were toasty warm especially the lounge with the wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped clean and the most beautiful view of the glen and mountains from the sink, so washing up is an absolute pleasure. Hamish and Kay live near by in their own home and are at hand if needed for helpful advise and any support with working things in the house or if you need any thing. It was nice to know they were around if you needed them. Cycling in and around the glen would have been great, next time we’re planning to take our bikes.

Fantastic cottage that I cannot recommend highly enough. Beautifully presented with lots to see and do if you can peel yourself away from the wood burning stove.... We loved it.

We have stayed in the cottage 4 times and the lodge every year for 30 years for fishing. The new fittings in the cottage are really good. We will keep coming as Glen Lyon and S Chesthill are really beautiful another great week.

Terry & I have been many, many times before and always loved it – but the cottage now has a cared for look, lived in and the work that has gone into the refurbishment in and around the kitchen is fabulous – well done to all.

The renovation of the cottage was extremely sympathetic; the use of Farrow & Ball type paint schemes was flattering, and the amazing thick curtains made it so cosy we had to keep the stove un-lit to prevent over-heating!   If there is a more lovely view from any window in Scotland than from Gardener’s Cottage, I really don’t want to know! My husband is convinced we'll spend our next 10 vacations here - we loved getting away from everything on such a beautiful property. We enjoyed daily walks and runs near the river and using the BBQ in the garden for dinners. Our daughter loved the sheep, rabbits, and deer. Hamish and Kay were lovely and incredibly helpful throughout our stay.

This Is the second time we’ve been to The Gardeners Cottage, and we loved it as much as the first time. You really couldn’t ask for a better location. It may look small from the outside but inside is everything you need, two good sizes bedrooms, a large living/dining room, main bathroom, ensuite and a well equipped kitchen. Kay and Hamish are the perfect hosts, expect at least one visit and expect to be treated like extended family. Who knows, we may be back. (Andrew R)
