Forest Holidays, Deerpark

This was our first Forest Holiday and I've already recommended it to friends with kids and we've talked about going back or trying a different location next year. We took our two kids (ages 5 and 2) and nephew (age 7) and they loved it. The forest ranger activities, ran by Martin, are great value and he really tailors them to the people in the group. We had pre-booked the Bat Walk and the Explosives talk where he talks about the history of the site. And then while we were there we booked to do pond dipping. We stayed in a Gold lodge and there was plenty of room with three bedrooms and a lounge/kitchen and two bathrooms. Tiny quibble - as it's self catering there should be more cupboard space for food, there isn't any, but it is a very tiny quibble. We booked for the lodge to be cleaned half way through the holiday too which was definitely worth it, change of towels etc, especially with three muddy boys every evening. The members of staff we talked to were all friendly and helpful. We ate at the Forest Retreat a couple of nights too which was great with kids as it meant they could play on the playground and eat outside while we watched them and enjoyed a cider and wine! The food is pretty good value too. We also had BBQ's a couple of nights at the lodge and the kids thought the hot tub was brilliant including the film on the TV which gives you all the instructions etc. It's the small things! Deerpark is in a good location for exploring the rest of Cornwall and we had some great days out. I'd definitely recommend it to families or couples who want a quiet break.

Our first visit to Deerpark, we are a family of 5 including 3 children aged 6,8 and 16. We loved our lodge right on the lake with all the wildlife to look at. Our boys (6 &8) adored feeding the ducks, geese and fish at the lake, as well as exploring the woods and building dens. We paid for the wifi as our 16 year old daughter was desperate to keep in touch with friends but it also meant we got a good range of movies to watch too. The lodge was spacious and we really appreciated our private decking and hot tub. Watching the birds and squirrel visit the decking was interesting. The Retreat (little hub/reception/shop) was nice and we really enjoyed the quiz night and cider tasting. The duck race was fun too. We also did the Bush Skills activity which was interesting but a little pricey for what was involved. The staff are lovely and friendly, always willing to help with any issues. My son cut his knee quite badly while playing and the staff were very thoughtful and caring. There are little things I would change or improve but overall I thought it was an awesome holiday and I can't wait to go back. I really hope to book for next year.

We went on holiday here in July. It was very relaxing and was definitely luxury! It was very nice and fun. The hot tub was really good. Our cabin was really nice because it overlooked the pond with ducks. The ranger activities with Martin was brilliant. He also had some nice friends, Zak and Max (his dogs), I would highly recommend this because it is very nice. The staff in the forest were lovely and helpful,the shop was good and also the cafe. I would also recommend the panini! Thanks Forest Holidays
