Alpnhaus is placed on a rugged hillside surrounded by hills and valleys with streams and waterfalls. Singdean 'garden' has a large wildlife pond that attracts so much wildlife - from frogs to dragonflies to herons and wild ducks.
Deer, foxes, stoats and badgers are also frequent visitors. Resident barn and tawny owls to accompany your evening. And just beyond the garden, there are otters.
350 above sea level in the grounds of Singdean which dates back to the 14th Century, in the Cheviot hills in Europe's largest Dark Sky park. Alpnhaus has been made with masses of local larch, a large pinch of creativity and a heap of dedication.
What is the capacity for Alpnhaus?
Alpnhaus is for one or two adults only. Dogs are welcome with prior arrangements.
Can you suggest any activities or things to do while staying in the Newcastleton area?
Many walks surround Alpnhaus. There are all the relevant maps for your use inside. Or a short drive away is Kielder lake and forest. Or explore the cashmere town of Hawick or Jedburgh with its old abbey and home of Mary Queen of Scots. The owners are on hand to give you recommendations should you wish.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
It is recommended that if you would like to go out for food, you do so at lunchtime because once the evening comes in Alpnhaus, you’ll be too cosy to want to leave!
There is a local pub with food around 10 minutes drive away. Further afield are a lovely choice of independent small restaurants. The owners of Alpnhaus are on hand to give you recommendations should you wish.
