- On your doorstep is The Derwent Valley, here you have 3 reservoirs and steeped in history with their connection to the Dambusters. There is a museum to visit that gives you all the details of the 617 squadron.
- Castleton is a short drive away. Several caverns are within the village to explore - ideal for children, but do bear in mind some have numerous steps down into the larger caves. The village itself has quaint shops / cafes and pubs to enjoy after your day outdoors
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
- The Anglers Rest in Bamford, is the community owned pub, offering a post office and cafe service too!
- The Yorkshire Bridge is a 20 minute walk away which serves tradiotional food food
- The nearest restaurants are in Hathersage, if you are wanting an Indian or Castleton for an Italian
- The surrounding villages of Bamford each contain their own village pub so if you fancied travelling a little further afield you would struggle to know where to stop and try!
- There are a couple of cafes in Hathersage where you can go to grab a sandwich or just coffee and cake

We had a great weekend and everyone loved The Derwent. We were a mixed group with couples singles and families and there was something for everyone and very luxurious compared to other large self catering venues we have used.
