Overview

Caddleton Farmhouse is a wonderful old and traditional farmhouse which has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable and welcoming accommodation for all the family up to 12 people. Entering on to the ground floor, you come into the games room from both sides of the building, one of which via a dry car port. There is another entrance suitable for wheelchairs which takes you directly to the downstairs bedroom should this be required. The ground floor has a utility room with large fridge, a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, large pantry, spacious open plan kitchen (with four oven Aga), dining and sitting room with open fire, another large family lounge with open fireplace, twin bedroom with adjacent wet room which is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also a large conservatory which leads on to a patio area and walled garden. Upstairs there is a large double room with ensuite bathroom, a smaller double with ensuite shower room, a twin room, family bathroom, and an attic style bedroom with four single beds. From the house and garden, the views are amazing - looking over Ardmaddy Bay towards the Isle of Seil, and down the sound to Scarba and Luing. Sunsets are a speciality. The house has oil fired central heating and hot water. Bed linen and towels are provided.

Arrival information & directions

Address: Ardmaddy Castle Holiday Cottages, Ardmaddy, Oban, Argyll & Bute, ObanPA34 4QY, United Kingdom

Once you get to Oban, you need to take the A816 south toward Lochgilphead and Campbeltown. About eight miles out of town there is a right turn on to the B844 for Easdale, Seil and Luing. Follow this road for about 5 miles – it seems you are going to nowhere, but don't worry. The road then takes a sharp right over a little bridge, but the Ardmaddy road goes straight on – there is a yellow sign that says “Garden Open” – take this smaller road. We ask that you drive slowly and with care on the road down to Ardmaddy. There are children, dogs, ponies, walkers, cyclists, pheasants, deer, sheep, cattle and often a combination of many of these. There are also many blind corners. A dog was killed recently, and there have been one or two head-on collisions or near misses caused by excessive speed. It is a narrow and bendy road – please drive appropriately. Ardmaddy is a beautiful place, slow down, enjoy it and you will see more. After about a mile, the road takes a sharp right bend through the Estate gates. Keep following the road down the hill and keep going straight ahead until you reach a small cattle grid. Go over the cattle grid and follow the metalled track round to the left – as you go round the bend you will see two houses – Caddleton is the nearest one. If you approach the house from the left this allows for more parking and manoeuvring space, but if it is raining, you may prefer to approach from the right as there is a covered car port which will enable you to unload in the dry, although there is only room for one car in the sheltered part.
