Kirby Muxloe

Kirby Muxloe is a village and civil parish west of Leicester. Its proximity to the city that 39, it causes part of the Leicester urban area. Leicester Forest East parish boundary runs along the A47 Hinckley Road. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 4523. The name comes from the name of Kirby 39, a Dane, Caer, who established the community here in the late tenth century or early ninth. The settlement was known as Carb and later, Kirby. In 1461, William Hastings, 1r. Baron Hastings of Hungerford, has become the steward of 39; honor of Leicester and Leicester Forest Ranger. His father, Sir Leonard Hastings, possessed a small estate in Leicestershire and Gloucestershire, where the family had long been established. On April 14, 1474 Hastings earned the right lordly Kirby family Pakeman, so that 39, he had rented for several years preceding this. In 1480, he started buildinge the moated castle Kirby Muxloe during the period of the War of the Roses. However, work on the castle stopped shortly after Lord Hastings was executed June 13, 1483 on the orders of King Richard III, the Tower of London for conspiracy. William has been caught in the rivalry for the throne after the death of 39, Edward IV.
