Zaika of Kensington
This former bank with its expansive wood-panelled dining room is one of the grandest settings in London to enjoy modern Indian food. OK, so there's biryani and some tandoor cooked items on the menu and lentils, bread and rice are all present and correct as side orders, but you should put the local curry house firmly out of your mind when dining here. Instead, expected three courses of beautifully presented dishes such as pan-seared spiced scallops, sautéed cavolo nero with a pumpkin sauce and lamb shank and masala ratatouille with mint and lamb sauce. To really see what the kitchen is capable of, go for the six course tasting menu and don't miss out on a signature Zaika cocktail made with Havana Blanco, Galliano, lime juice and champagne in the sumptuous bar.
