The Star Inn

This 14th-century “longhouse” has been one of the most successful and lauded gastropubs in the land for more than a decade. In that time the business has grown to encompass luxury accommodation, but at heart, it's a village pub, albeit a multi-award winning one. With the arrival of Chef / Patron, Andrew Pern, in June 1996 the new chapter in its history started as it is regularly ranked as one of the UK's top restaurants and has held a Michelin star for a large portion of Andrew's tenure.

Where is The Star Inn located?

Located on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, this charming thatched Inn 's origins have been known to date back to 14th century in the picturesque village of Harome, near Helmsley.

What cuisine is on offer at The Star Inn?

Andrew Pern oversees the kitchen where he cooks refined food with a pronounced northern accent. The regularly changing chalkboard menu might include the likes of local game, North Sea fish and fresh herbs from its own kitchen garden. If you can't decide on dessert, go for The Taste of The Star, a selection of miniature puds.

What is the signature dish at The Star Inn?

Daily Specials allow the Chefs to take advantage of Catch-of-the-Day fresh fish, limited availability game and kitchen garden produce, as the seasons allow.

What makes a meal at The Star Inn unique?

The Star has won almost all of the major industry awards in the last two decades from the prestigious Michelin star to the Top UK Gastropub and has remained a favourite spot for hospitality professionals and diners who come back for the unique home-cured hospitality of the Star over and over.
