Rick Stein is one of Britian's best known telly chefs. A recent £2.5 million refurbishment of at his smart quayside restaurant in the picturesque Cornwall fishing village of Padstow means that you can now dine at the new central seafood bar without booking. But plan way ahead if you want to land a table . It's worth the effort though as no one does seafood like Stein. A hot shellfish starter with parsley, chilli, olive oil, garlic and lemon teases out the maximum flavour from an alarmingly large platter of langoustine, cockles, razor clams and whelks. Global influences litter the menu, from Japanese sashimi to an Indian monkfish vindaloo. But there's good old British fish and chips too made with local cod. Just the thing to go with a bottle of Rick Stein's own Australian Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.
