The Lighthouse Restaurant
Exposed brick, wood beams, wood floor. Sounds like a traditional rural British pub. In fact this is a clean modern space in a new building at the back of the Rose and Crown set in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire. The contemporary feel is completed by smart cream leather chairs and simply laid stylish bare wood tables. They really know their food trend here too, covering off 'dude food' with the wittily titled KFP (Kentucky Fried Partridge with sweetcorn pureé, honey bacon and charred leek) and serving miso Black Cod that's so beloved of London's hottest Asian restaurants. Progressive cooking gets a nod too with a dusting of 'truffle snow' over a dish of pressed foie gras with mulberry gel. To experience the full gamut of the cooking skills on offer, go for the eight course tasting menu.
