Overview

Exposed brick, wood beams, wood floor. Sounds like a traditional rural British pub. In fact this is a clean modern space in a new building at the back of the Rose and Crown set in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire. The contemporary feel is completed by smart cream leather chairs and simply laid stylish bare wood tables.

Where is The Lighthouse Restaurant located?

Hidden within the magnificent countryside of Derbyshire, in the small village of Boylestone, the surroundings offer some of Britain's best scenery. The location provides a pleasant opportunity to alleviate the stress of daily life and to really appreciate the relationship between landscape and produce.

What cuisine is on offer at The Lighthouse Restaurant?

They really know their food trend here too, covering off 'dude food' with the wittily titled KFP (Kentucky Fried Partridge with sweetcorn pureé, honey bacon and charred leek) and serving miso Black Cod that's so beloved of London's hottest Asian restaurants. Progressive cooking gets a nod too with a dusting of 'truffle snow' over a dish of pressed foie gras with mulberry gel. To experience the full gamut of the cooking skills on offer, go for the eight course tasting menu.

What makes a meal at The Lighthouse Restaurant unique?

The Lighthouse Restaurant is currently Derbyshire ‘Restaurant of the year’ for 2018 and also feature in the Michelin, Good Food and Harden’s guides.

Reviews

We held an 80th birthday party on 1st March 2014. The restaurant opened for us, specially on Saturday lunchtime. An excellent menu was agreed. The whole family were well received. Service and attention was exemplary, food was well cooked and served. A truly memorable experience - 100%

We had the taster menu, and everything about it was sensational! The service was wonderful, the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere but the food blew me away. Each course tasted amazing and the textures and presentation were really special. You must visit.

Hidden behind ordinary country pub, this place is a revelation! Fabulous, ambitious, surprising dishes. Charming and attentive service, in a tasteful setting. Chef's menu: 9 tasting courses for £50 was a real treat. Will certainly be going back!

I eat out regularly and this is the best of all the places I frequent. The food is modern English with a twist. Service and ambience are the best. The food is wonderful. I love it!!

Quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and well balanced flavours. Nicely judged portions. Attentive service, not intrusive. Had fun.

Another great concept and meal. Executed perfectly and portions just right for a mid week meal. Looking forward to the next taster!
