Overview
The newly launched Curry Room at The Rubens serves an inspired three-course menu created by Chef Arun Kumar. Working closely with Head Chef Kevin Joseph at our sister property, The Oyster Box Hotel in Durban, the menu celebrates authentic flavours made with the finest ingredients and exclusively imported spices from India.
The intimate and supremely comfortable setting of the restaurant incorporates Rajasthani hand embroidery and rich red colours which reflect the vibrant diversity of the dishes.
Mohan, and his team will take you on a gourmet?journey through the menu beginning with keema samosa, poppadums, homemade lime pickle, mango chutney and mint raita. A choice of mains includes inspired traditional Indian curries. Complete the experience with a choice of desserts including Indian influenced Kulfi ice cream.
A wide selection of old and new world wine has been carefully selected to complement the dining experience, including a fine selection from Bouchard Finlayson, our sister vineyard in South Africa.?Popular Indian beer options include Kingfisher and Cobra.

We were staying at The Rubens Hotel and had dinner at The Curry Room this past week.
The new chef is truly outstanding. The food was superb and the service was spectacular. The restaurant itself is truly beautiful, elegant and cozy. The waiter took time to provide history and context on all of the dishes. My wife was uniquely interested in one of the spices used and by the time she was back in her hotel room, he had sent up a sample and complete history on the origin of the spice. This is truly a unique, special and intimate dining experience that can't be missed.

When I was invited to eat in the newly opened Curry Room at The Rubens hotel I was not expecting to have the best curry ever. It was a three course menu with 7 different curries to chose from with the help of Mohan my husband went for the Vindaloo which even I could eat and I had chicken and prawns which was excellent. You would not leave here hungry, highly recommend if you like curry in a fantastic refurbished restaurant.

Best Indian food I've had in my life. Fantastic restaurant with brilliant attentive staff. The manager is a wonderful welcoming man a super host made us feel like guests at his own house.

Loved the food. The staff is very courteous and the Curry room will serve some of very customized Indian food on request. Thanks to Chef Kumar for taking personal care of his guests.
