Overview

Set in the charming village of East Chisenbury, The Red Lion feels delightfully isolated yet its only a few minutes from the A35. While the pub, with its tasteful tiles and exposed floorboards and timber walls remains an essential part of village life with regulars popping in for a pint of real ale at the bar, husband and wife team Guy and Brittany Manning's superlative cooking has won national acclaim. They've applied their experience working in top restaurants around the world like three Michelin starred Per Se in New York to locally sourced produce (including their own hens, pigs and fruit and veg) to create robustly flavoured and precisely cooked dishes like pappardelle of Salisbury Plain venison with bone marrow and red wine and roast Cornish cod with lentils, braised gem lettuce, poached squid rings and gremolata. Brittany is a highly skilled pastry chef so don't miss out on sweet treats like Valrhona chocolate crémeux with cocoa crumbs and fleur de sel.

Reviews

Very friendly atmosphere and staff. We stayed in the associated accommodation which was also great. The food was really amazing, perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Very well stocked wine list and very prompt and efficient service. Truly hidden treasure of a pub.

A warm and friendly atmosphere where the staff are always willing to help. The service is outstanding coupled with great food and great specials. If you haven't been you are seriously missing out!
