Where is The Bell at Ramsbury located?
Situated in the centre of a picturesque East Wiltshire village lined with streets of beautifully preserved, half-timbered, thatched, Georgian and Victorian houses and surrounded by miles of ancient chalk downland, The Bell's rural location makes the perfect base for exploring this incredible landscape with the historic market towns of Marlborough and Hungerford just a few miles away.
Does the chef at The Bell at Ramsbury have a signature dish?
Due to the focus on seaonality, there is no signature dish on the regularly changing à la carte menus, but The Bell does offer excellent Sunday roasts including Roast sirloin of 48 day aged Devon Red beef, Roast rump of herdwick lamb or Roast belly of large black pork and The Bells nut roast - all served with gravy, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage, broccoli and a Yorkshire pudding.
What type of food do you serve at The Bell at Ramsbury?
The Bell was awarded a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand in 2023. Surrounded by the 19000 acre Ramsbury estate, which supplies The Bell's kitchen with an incredible variety of freshly picked, home-grown and harvested produce grown at its own Priory Farm kitchen garden just two miles away.
Bell head chef, James Graham, uses this daily pciked produce to create generous and flavourful dishes with internationally-inspired influences on his regularly changing à la carte, farm-to-fork menus. Innovative twists and stunning presentation give a nod to fine dining, but remain reasonably priced and accessible, as do the elevated pub classics, including pizzas, burgers and fish and chips.
Drinks to order alongside, inlude award-winning beers, vodka and gin from the Ramsbury Estate's own brewey and distillery and a carefully curated wine list offering reasonably priced classics and more unusual wines from Austria, Hungary and Lebanon, available by the glass or bottle. The Bell also offers a ‘Special Wine List’ featuring a fabulous range of prestigious Old and New World wines.
What makes the dining experience unique at The Bell at Ramsbury ?
Alongside freshly-picked produce from Priory Farm kitchen garden, the Estate also supplies the kitchen with air dried aged beef from its own herd of South Devon Pedigree and Aberdeen Angus cattle, water meadow lamb and seasonally available game from the estate’s sustainably managed woodland and Black Gold rapeseed oil from its own on-site oil press. Fresh fish deliveries arrive daily from Cornwall.
Everything on the menus is made in-house, including James' own charcuturie, and each course includes vegetarian dishes. There’s also a children’s menu, though the kitchen will also make smaller portions from the à la carte menu too.
Meals are served in the bar area with two wood burners, or within two adjoining light and airy dining spaces warmed by an open fire, in its own Café Bella or outside on its terrace and landscaped beer garden.
