A 16th-century pub at the heart of Ditchling village, with the South Downs rising immediately to the south and Brighton a short drive away. Six rooms above the bar, each with its own character and wonky charm, Nespresso machines, mini bars and Hypnos beds. Dog-friendly throughout, with on-site parking, and a beer garden that comes into its own in summer. A good base for walking the South Downs Way, exploring the Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft, or simply disappearing into the Sussex countryside for a day.
