Overview
The Inn at Whitewell offer a relaxed and friendly service together with an enjoyable and inexpensive experience. Situated high on the banks of the River Hodder, with spectacular views down the valley into the heart of the Forest of Bowland. There are twenty three bedrooms, fourteen of which have open fires making those winter evenings a little more cosy. Eating is a culinary delight with the kitchen staff consistently producing delicious wholesome food for the bar at lunch and supper, with seemingly simple but exquisite food for the dining room every evening. For parties and weddings the marquee is perfectly situated looking out over the river with it's own garden allowing an amount of independence from the Inns usual daily business.
Reviews
We stayed for our 1st wedding anniversary, 12 months after having spent the night before our honeymoon there.
From our arrival to departure the staff were excellent, with us and our dog. Within five minutes of being taken to our room; someone arrived to light a peat fire and a tray of coffee was delivered. So after half an hour we were toasty warm; cosy and settled in.
We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, our dog had a snooze in the room whilst we ate and joined us in the bar after for a nightcap.
We came prepared with bowls and for our dog, I'm a little surprised that a previous review has suggested they expected these to be provided by the inn. Dogs diets shouldn't be changed without weaning, we certainly wouldnt give our dog a random food brand he wasnt used to and would fully expect to provide our own food and bowls! Despite this he was treated to a piece of bacon at breakfast .. . More than sufficient effort by the inn.
We had a perfectly lovely stay, its suchba relaxing place to stay. Granted its not like staying at the four seasons with staff falling at your feet to anticipate your every need. .. but thats not what you go there for. Its a beautiful Traditional Inn in stunning countryside, with great food, service and lovely rooms.
Ourselves and our dog had a great stay and will probably return again for our next anniversary.

This hotel is an absolute hidden gem. The food is amazing, you must try thier scones if you go there. The hotel rooms are very cosy and just ooze with authenticity. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
This Inn dates back to the 13th century. The location can be a bit hard to find but it's worth it once you get there. We only wish we had stayed longer. I'm not one for giving 5 stars but the Inn at Whitewell deserves it.
If you appreciate olde world decor and good local fayre then this place is for you.

We regularly eat at the Inn at Whitewell, and the standard of the food has always been excellent. The staff are very welcoming and the service has always been first class. The place has a great atmosphere and on a warm day enjoying a drink on the patio overlooking the River Hodder simply can't be beaten.
Whilst we haven't stayed here yet it is a priority for 2017.

We had a very lovely weekend in The Piggery with two other couples. Very well appointed with delightful crisp cotton sheets on very comfortable beds. Food in the bar restaurant (we all had dogs who quite rightly are not allowed in the dining room) was delicious and varied. All staff we met couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay.

This hotel is simply wonderful. We have stayed here a few times and always feel life's cares recede once snuggling in a cosy room with a real peat brick fire and view to die for. The food is memorable, the service efficient and low key but people-watching here is perhaps my favourite pastime.

Had a drive out to Great Harwood so decided to venture a bit further and have a late lunch at Inn at Whitewell. As it was nearly finished we ordered quickly. Fish and chips with mushy peas. Very tasty and large portions. Beautiful surroundingd set by river. Packed! Yes lovely
