Overview

A 17th-century Young's inn on the Quay in Appledore, a fishing village at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers on the North Devon coast. Seventeen bedrooms, some with views across the estuary to Instow, occupy the annexe beside the pub. Run by landlady Ruthie, who is something of a fixture in the village, the Seagate is as much a community pub as it is a place to stay. The village is known for its cobbled streets, independent shops and position on the South West Coast Path, with two National Parks and five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within reach. An honest, unpretentious base for proper coastal walking country.
