A pub with a difference in the heart of Askham
Part of the esteemed Askham Collection, The Queen’s Head is a cosy 17th century village pub with bedrooms ideally located in the pretty village of Askham in the Lake District. In 2022 they became AA accredited as a 4 star gold inn and with an AA Rosette restaurant.
Lovingly renovated to the Askham Hall standard by the Lowther family, discover seasonal ‘super-posh’ pub food made with produce reared, foraged and grown on their farms, hedgerows and kitchen gardens. Think earthy truffle with creamy artichoke; deep-flavoured seasonal game and home-reared saddleback pork; hand-dived scallops and local lobster; brassicas, herby pestos, berries and orchard fruits.
Make the most of the location with an invigorating walk on the local fells, or a more gently stroll along the river Lowther right from the door, with no need to drive anywhere during your stay. Take a stroll around the gardens at Askham Hall where much of their produce is grown and reared, and even a dip in the outdoor pool in summer months.* Back at the pub enjoy a local pint by the copper topped bar before a lighter lunch or a refined yet hearty dinner. The regularly-changing menu is matched by a wonderful selection of wines courtesy of the sommeliers from their Michelin-starred sister hotel, Askham Hall, just a short walk away. Make the most of this special relationship and eat at both places during your stay…
