Overview

This beautiful 18th-century coaching inn, tucked away in the middle of Sussex Weald, is famed for its outstanding meals, courteous service, and Georgian splendour. Set on the outskirts of Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie-the-Pooh, the most renowned of bears. When it's time to retire, you'll find that each of the17 bedrooms has its own personality, comfort, and modern accents. Some have wooden floors, while others have a traditional four-poster bed, but all are well-equipped and tastefully decorated. After a long soak in the tub, snuggle up in one of the plush mattresses.

What makes a stay at The Chequers Inn unique?

From midday, the lovely restaurant serves a creative modern menu, including roast dinners. Each morning, a breakfast selection is also offered. The pub, which extends to a decked garden area, serves real ales and good wines.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Chequers Inn?

The attractively styled and equipped rooms at Chequers Inn include a flat-screen TV, tea/coffee making amenities, and a resting space. There is also a private contemporary bathroom in each room.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Maresfield area?

The Chequers is the perfect place to get away from it all, or to use as a base for exploring East Sussex. East Grinstead and Royal Tunbridge Wells are a little further away. Both are certainly worth seeing. Brighton, however, is only 20 miles away.
