Back to Inspirations
Most brides-to-be have at some time in their lives dreamt of being whisked away and marrying their chosen one in a fairytale castle. For some the dream still lives on long past childhood. But now with the changes in the civil ceremony laws and a wider choice in the alternative wedding venue market, couples can now marry in a real life fairytale castle. Being a romantic at heart I've chosen my ten favourite historic castles that have let down their drawbridges and throw open their majestic gates giving every bride the chance to live the dream!
Leeds Castle

Rising out of the ethereal waters of its moat Leeds Castle has an air of magic about it. Hold your ceremony in the sunlit, French windowed drawing room, followed by a candlelit reception in the magnificent Banqueting Hall. For the perfect end to your perfect day follow in the footsteps of royalty, the rich and famous and stay the night at the castle.

Belvoir Castle

With its turrets, gothic towers and a grand staircase, that descends two floors making it perfect for a dramatic entrance, this venue ticks every box in the fairytale wedding stakes. Civil ceremonies take place in the ornate Ballroom whilst C of E ceremonies are held in the Duke's private chapel. After a wedding breakfast in one of the staterooms go “below stairs” and dance the night away in the Old Kitchen or Old Servants Hall.

Sherborne Castle and Gardens

Set within beautiful landscape gardens by Capability Brown and with a 50 acre lake, this venue has a storybook element about it. Say “I do” in the Solarium, once Sir Walter Raleigh's front parlour, the beautiful Tudor Entrance Hall or in the 18th century lakeside Orangery. The lake pier, romantic gardens, sweeping lawns and fountains make this a photographers paradise.
