We brought our dog with us and were delighted with just how accommodating the hotel was, especially for dinner. The food was absolutely fantastic, and we will certainly come back.

Drumlanrig castle is worth a visit and very close to the hotel. We also really enjoyed visiting Rockcliffe on the Solway Firth.

The spa was just perfect for us. The outdoor wood fire stoked spa was in a most beautiful setting overlooking countryside. The sauna was incredibly equipped with a fantastic array of essential oils to choose from to put into the water for the coals. The outlook from inside the sauna was again just beautiful overlooking the fields and hills. The treatment room was so luxurious. I can’t recommend it enough.

I would be able to relax in the lovely public rooms, spa and garden without even visiting anywhere.

This was our fourth visit to Trigony House Hotel. We were visiting with another couple and had asked if a particular dish could be available on the menu. This was done and we had a really pleasant evening meal and overnight stay.
This is a lovely, friendly hotel with a welcoming atmosphere and a real desire to offer good customer service. I have no doubt we will be back.

Drumlanrig Castle gardens are well worth a visit. We would highly recommend a visit to Dumfries House - the guided tour of the house was excellent.

The location of Trigony House is excellent for those travelling the length of the country like us. The biggest selling point of this hotel is the staff. Super friendly and couldn't be more accommodating to us and our dogs. Lovely relaxed feeling to the whole hotel and the food was great.

I didn't really see much apart from the hotel but I wish I had tried the garden spa!

Delicious food for both an evening meal and breakfast. Good that dog friendly meant the dog could run around in the garden and be with us in the bar ( with the same menu as the restaurant). All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

The cafe in the art gallery (Thomas Tosh) in Thornhill is good for lunch. The Covenanters graveyard is interesting.

As ever the wonderful personal service of the staff at Trigony makes the stay here a memorable one. The attention to detail and the comfort of the hotel make it a great place to come home to after a day exploring. I now am on my own and it is lovely to be treated as a special guest rather than pushed into a corner as I have found in other hotels. The food is lovely with a great choice for vegetarians.

Enjoy the lovely Galloway countryside which is relatively undiscovered by tourists. Drumlanrig Castle is very close by as are many artists establishments , open gardens and lovely villages to explore.

Lovely stay at Trigony - friendly staff and great food (especially for vegetarians, who are well-catered for with proper dishes and not just the usual ubiquitous Thai-curry stuff served by hotels elsewhere). This was the second time we have stayed at Trigony House - our last time was three years ago - and everything was just as lovely as we remembered it. We knew how good the food is, so reserved a table for dinner on both nights and had slightly different menu choices each night. It is so peaceful and quiet here, you cannot fail to relax. We had three days of fabulous walking in the hills and along the coast and some sightseeing at Caerlaverock Castle. The purpose of that activity was really to walk off our fabulous breakfasts and sharpen our appetites for dinner! The highlight of our stay was waking in the night to hear an owl hooting softly in the trees outside our window. Our dog loved her visit and we had to pick her up to get her to go in the car when we left, as she wanted to stay! Thank you and we hope to see you again.

Beautiful and immaculate accommodation. Wonderful food, both for breakfast and dinner. Fabulous gardens to sit out in with an evening gin cocktail. The house is absolutely lovely. Most of all, what lovely staff. So friendly, hard working and helpful. And a big thank you to Roxy, for helping us with our breakfasts!

We had a wonderful stay at Trigony House Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, with delightful grounds. Our room was immaculate and exceptionally comfortable. Staff were helpful and delightful, and food at both dinner and breakfast was amongst the best we have enjoyed. A wonderful place to stay and we will certainly return.

Friendly and welcoming staff. A real treat to stay here. Hotel located in the middle of beautiful countryside, just a bit of road noise occasionally spoiling the tranquil setting. Food excellent and loved our aperitifs in the garden!

Excellent hotel. We cannot fault a thing. Trigony is in a beautiful tranquil setting and nothing is too much trouble for Jan and Adam and all their staff. This is our 3rd visit and it will certainly not be our last. A very personal hotel, just like being in a lovely country home which is exactly what it is. Highly recommended.

Trigony is a characterful old house set in a small wood.
The gardens are lovely to sit in during nice weather and the area is rural so has nice walks along country lanes.
The service has been excellent on both of our visits when we were warmly received and cared for. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with views over the countryside. Breakfast was made to order and very well prepared as was the evening meal. There was a good selection of choices on the evening menu.

We had a really nice weekend. The food is first class and the hotel grounds are lovely. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, there is real milk for tea and coffee (no UHT!), the furniture is a little dated but it doesn't detract from the overall experience. It's a good base for discovering the local area with lots of places to visit within half an hour's drive. The choice for breakfast is vast and the dining area has great views on to the grounds.

Comments about this property:
Trigony has fast become our favourite place to stay in the UK, it truly is doggie friendly! The staff and food are excellent. Don't like to praise too much or else everyone will want to stay there! We hope to be back really soon. Incidentally, the spa massage is second to none.......
Tips for other travellers:
Lots of interesting and beautiful places to visit nearby. Dora and Julia can give you information on EVERYTHING in the area.

Fantastic dog friendly hotel. Our first stay but hopefully not our last. Fantastic food both breakfast and evening meal. Spacious well equipped, clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff providing great local knowledge.
Tips for other travellers:
Great walks from the hotel. Back roads through to Thornhill past graveyard, very interesting. Drumlanrig Estate not far away is beautiful. Great walks around formal gardens and other great walking and cycling routes around the estate with amazing views.
Gorgeous walks around coast from Rockilffe to Sandyhills or Kippford.

Superb friendly staff......dog friendly without being overpowering.
Absolutely outstanding properly cooked food using locally sourced ingredients....highly recommended!

This is an understated place which we just love ??
It's relaxing, homely and welcoming.
If you want glitz glamour and pretension, it's not for you.
Tips for other travellers:
There's plenty to do and see in the area-we walked. But wish we'd had time for some of the gardens, sculptures villages and castles

Tips for other travellers:
The coast is near by with a wealth of wildlife, there is a Castle with lovely walks is just a short drive away. We chose to eat at the hotel but there are plenty of pubs/hotels offering food to suit everyone's pocket. A great area to stay and explore.

Comments about this property:
The house, surroundings, food and location are all excellent but what really makes this place special is the staff. You feel welcomed from the minute you arrive until you leave. More and more places label their establishments as dog friendly but for many a more accurate description would be dogs tolerated. This is definitely not the case here
Tips for other travellers:
Have a treatment at the Garden Spa - great therapist and wonderful to get a massage whilst listening to birds chirping, rooks cawing and the wind in the trees.
Lots of lovely walks - but the log fir in the lounge makes it difficult to get the motivation to move!

Comments about this property
We greatly enjoyed this, our first stay at Trigony House. All the staff are friendly and a pleasure to talk to, while the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. It was a pleasure to be greeted upon our arrival with an offer of tea for people and water for the dog.

The food was excellent and dog-friendliness fantastic, with dog towels in a chest at the front door, a sausage for the dog at breakfast, and a spacious bar where your dog can accompany you for your breakfast and dinner. Of great practical value, there is a covered area outside the front door where you can towel down your dog before entering the building.

Although the hotel provides a taste of luxury, it is at the same time very relaxed.

We will go again!

Comments about this property:
The food is marvellous. The staff and owners are very friendly and efficient. A special mention for Dora. Dogs are made very welcome which makes a stay here really pleasurable and the little touches like towels in the porch area to dry muddy feet are so thoughtful. It must be the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. We have already recommended Trigony to some of our friends, both dog owners and non dog owners. The grounds are lovely.
Tips for other travellers:
Many pretty villages and towns nearby, castles and lovely walks. Kirkcudbrightshire's is a lovely town to visit.

Our third stay and everything was as wonderful as always. You always feel very well looked after and it was super thoughtful to offer us a complimentary drink while we waited for the towel rail! The menu and food were absolutely sublime and it is such a treat to find such high quality vegetarian dishes on offer. We'll be back again for sure.
Tips for other travellers:
Get out in the wild - Caerlaverock and Mersehead are fantastic. Such wilderness is refreshing for the soul.

We have a Reunion of Old Friends from our University Days every year and this year we chose Trigony House .
On arrival the staff were immediately friendly and helpful , as they were all weekend. The rooms were all very comfortable , particularly the Garden Suite which we had to the luck to have been given.
We had Dinner on both nights and the food was excellent and varied, the one minor problem we had with one meal was immediately rectified , and the Breakfasts were the best I've ever had in a small Hotel.
The main compliment I can pay this excellent establishment is that in all the years we have been having our yearly get together this is the first time none of our (perhaps over critical) party have had a single complaint.
