Overview

The Montagu Arms Hotel is a stunning haven that offers the perfect setting to absorb peace and serenity in the knowledge that the 'hustle and bustle' is far away. It is an ideal central point to explore the beautiful New Forest and is an indulgent treat for guests and their loved ones.

What makes a stay at The Montagu Arms Hotel unique?

During WW2 the Montagu Arms was used by the home-guard, (the real Dad's Army) as a firing position in the event of invasion. Guest have included Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, British Actor Henry Irving; Writer, Sir H. Rider Haggard and the former French president, General Charles de Gaulle. The sculptor Guiseppe Lund OBE designed the charming fountain that forms the focal point of the gardens at The Montagu Arms.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Montagu Arms Hotel?

The Montagu Arm houses 33 en-suite bedrooms, all unique in style, some including four-poster beds, and each designed to make guests feel entirely comfortable and homely. Every day, fresh flowers are picked from the garden and placed into each room with complimentary tea and coffee and one's favourite newspaper. With compliments from The White Company, toiletries are provided and a fluffy bathrobe comes as standard for each guest.

A splendid afternoon spent in the tranquillity of restaurant overlooking the beautiful terrace gardens. Superb service from Abbie & the team, & our expectations were far exceeded regarding the food offerings. Beautifully presented taste temptations & totally pleasurable to eat with a nice selection of teas, all in all a satisfying & relaxing way to spend a sunny bank holiday afternoon ... & to celebrate a special birthday! We live locally, so will be visiting you again ... & we shall be recommending the Afternoon Tea experience at The Montague Arms Hotel to all our friends & family. I can't wait to return!

We booked 20 rooms at this beautiful hotel for a group of people from America to attend the Goodwood Revival. The guests were so happy and comfortable with the welcome and ambience of this quintessentially English four star country hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and our every need was more than catered for. The food was excellent and the staff great. It felt like they were feeling happy to help with anything. There were wild horses and donkeys wandering the streets. Such a fabulous place. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic Sunday lunch and overnight stay. A really lovely hotel which has a charm of its own. The room was nice and light and so tastefully decorated - in keeping with the hotel. Jeremy the Assistant Manager made us feel very special as I'm sure he does with all the guests. The staff are equally friendly and extremely helpful - they do a grand job!.. all in all a fabulous hotel.

I've not experienced a better hotel; the rooms, the setting, the cleanliness, the ambience, the facilities and staff were exceptional. I would recommend it to all my friends. It made my holiday as nothing was too much trouble for the staff. When I return to the New Forest, I would not dream of staying anywhere else.

Cannot fault our stay at all. Room was lovely and all the extra touches made our time relaxing and enjoyable. Was a real shame to only have one night. Hotel is located in a beautiful area. Will be booking another stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
