We chose the Horn of Plenty as our wedding venue for a couple of reasons 1) The amazing setting, and more importantly, 2) Julie, the owner and Wedding planner. She made us feel so welcome and special from the moment we stepped into the hotel whilst looking for a venue that we knew we wanted to get married there. From that very first meeting, Julie and her team couldn’t do enough to ensure our day was perfect in every way. We planned the wedding from Yorkshire and the wedding team were on always hand to answer any questions we had. The actual day was amazing. The food was out of this world. The chef had created a bespoke menu for us earlier in the year where we met with him and discussed our favourite food. He then designed a menu around this and made our favourite foods even better! All of our guests commented on how good the food was and how well ran the day went. I can’t recommend The Horn of Plenty enough. It was a day to remember and we will most certainly be going back in years to come.

As always, we had a fabulous couple of days at the Horn of Plenty. It’s easy to see why they have so many guests who return again and again. Everything is always just as it should be: a wonderful room, a warm welcome, service that strikes exactly the right note of friendliness and efficiency, the MOST delicious food … why would anyone look elsewhere?

Just returned from my 3rd or maybe even 4th visit to the Horn of Plenty. Once again it didn't disappoint. The staff were welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much bother. The room was lovely and clean and well prepared.

After recently being diagnosed with Celiac disease the chef and waiting staff couldn't have been any more attentive. I really could not fault their helpfulness and understanding of the situation and made my first meal out in a while very relaxing.

If I could give this place 6 stars out of 5 I would. It's a magical place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing get away with yummy food.

Had a wonderful one night break, had a really excellent dinner, best meal out for a long time, and equally excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed and lovely balcony, lucky enough to have good weather and be able to sit out with a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful views.

Four of us dined and stayed here last night and were mightily impressed with the standards of the accommodation and cuisine. The staff were as obliging, friendly, and efficient as any we have encountered.

If there is a better word than excellent then I would use it !!
We spent 3 days celebrating our *****th. wedding anniversary and our room we could not fault and we can recommend "splashing out" on room 11 !!!
The complete experience was exceptional with not just the weather which we had ordered ( no extra cost ) but the comfort, food and staff were all perfect.
I think there are many other hotels whose owners or managers should stay here just to see what good service is all about.

What a beautiful hotel! Absolutely loved staying here, great location, views, staff, food and bedrooms.
Very peaceful area overlooking the Tamar Valley and on a clear day you can see as far as Bodmin Moor.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
We stayed in The Coach House right next to the hotel. Very modern, clean and inviting. Our room was situated on the top floor overlooking the courtyard.
Decent sized bathroom with walk in monsoon shower and large freestanding bath.
Amazing food, beautifully presented and so much to choose, all locally sourced and fresh.
Great full English Breakfast cooked to order, plus buffet style options also available.
Would certainly love to go back and visit again, especially for the Afternoon Tea!

A wonderful hotel in a magnificent setting. Beautiful room with large balcony
overlooking the Tamar Valley. Very friendly and helpful staff. Superb dinner
and breakfast. Certainly one of the best hotels I have enjoyed in my 59 years
as a Travel Agent. Can't wait to return.

Review of The Horn of Plenty

We stayed for four nights and enjoyed every moment.

This small hotel is situated overlooking the Tamar valley with fine views from the front part of the dining room. We requested a superior room with a beautiful view but the one allotted to us although large and splendid with an enormous bathroom, lacked one. So we opted to swap to a smaller room (No 10) that had a great view over the rolling Devon countryside. It was compact but well fitted out and even had a tiny balcony just enough for two.

We liked the pre-dinner drinks in the comfortable lounge in the main house (hotel is separate from bedrooms, although there are rooms in the main house) and being able to choose from the menu before going through to the dining room.

The food is high quality (home baked bread, local produce) and the menu imaginative. Breakfast was chosen from a very comprehensive menu.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
There are lots of National Trust places to visit nearby.

I booked a night away with my husband after friends recommended this hotel.

It was amazing. Beautiful scenery, views for miles. Very peaceful, just what we needed.

Our room was the Best Room in the coach house, and it was the best! Very clean, the bed was large and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! The bathroom was amazing and modern.

All staff were very friendly, a big thank you to the receptionist who greeted us (sorry I don't know your name, young with dark hair). You were so friendly and walked us to our room. 5 star welcome!

We will visit again!

This hotel was a real treat. The staff were lovely and we felt like valued customers from the moment we booked and throughout our stay.

We upgraded our room and had a huge balcony with stunning views across the valley.

The food in the evening was wonderful and breakfast was equally good with the added extra of a glass of prosecco or Buck's Fizz. We left feeling relaxed and regenerated.

Hope to stay again.

A beautiful venue, the accommodation was modern and spotlessly clean, the food was first class and the staff were welcoming and attentive and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted somewhere for a special occasion.

The best hotel in the South West! The owners are lovely and the food is always exceptional. We got married here in 2012 and love to return to stay whenever we can. The new rooms are delightful and the relaxed and professional approach makes it a joy to stay here - can't recommend this hotel highly enough!
