Walkers and spa devotees will love getting away from it all at Losehill House. You really wouldn't know it was there, tucked away in the gorgeous Derbyshire Peak District until you turn a corner and find this comfortable, 22 bedroom, four-star hotel nestling amid all the greenery. The hotel was built as a guest house for ramblers nearly 100 years ago but since 2003 has offered a very high level of comfort: en-suite rooms with flat-screen TVs, sauna, swimming pool and exterior hot tub, not to mention the award-winning Orangery Restaurant and the Thalgo Spa. If you're not out walking, enjoy a cream tea in the lounge or one of a number of local cask ales in the bar. Dog-owners will welcome the two mews rooms with their own external doors. The Peak District is an ideal place for some serious walkies. The best room to book is the split level Win Hill Suite and the best dish on the Orangery menu, fillet of Derbyshire lamb with mini shepherd's pie, carrot puree and cauliflower cheese. There's also a private dining room if you want to arrange a big event for all the family.
