Inspirations

Lakeside Hotel on Lake Windermere is part of the following Inspirations:

Ten Historic Hotels in the Lake District by Adrian Mourby

"This rare seventeenth-century coaching inn predates the Lake District’s rise as a tourist attraction. It was built as an important staging post between Penrith and the coast. Business increased as Lancashire’s mills developed to the south. When the hotel was sold at auction in 1954 the particulars quoted a landing stage for steamers and a dining room with dance floor for 80. Today the John Ruskin Brasserie commemorates the art critic who stayed in Windermere in 1826."

Ten of Britain's Cosiest Hotels by Sarah Turner

"There’s carefully controlled chintz at this hotel, one of my all-time favourites. It’s larger than most of the others featured but the owner, Neville Talbot makes staying here an intimate experience. A lot of its pleasures are pleasingly old-fashioned such as duck-feeding on the lawn or afternoon tea in the conservatory and the setting on the shore of Windermere is idyllic."

Review of Lakeside Hotel on Lake Windermere

Posted on by Jenny SCustomer stayed Sep 2016

Came back for our 25th Anniversary, had the perfect welcome with the 'grand tour' of the hotel.

Enjoyed a couple of pre-dinner drinks in the conservatory, loved the nibbles and great wine selection. The food was excellent in the main restaurant, the Chateaubriand was cooked to perfect and the young lady who served us was fabulous!

Breakfast was well cooked and with some quirky choices and first class service to suit.

We look forward to coming back soon.

100%

Simply Sublime! Quintessentially English country house hotel and gardens. Furnished in a cozy and inviting style. The food is fabulous, with a more sophisticated dining options in the Lakeview Restaurant and a relaxed feel within the Brassiere.
The position of the hotel is stunning, with gorgeous views directly onto Lake Windermere from the Ultimate Lakeview bedrooms.
The Spa is modern and equip with everything you might want; with Steam Room, Sauna's and Jacuzzi as well as treatment rooms.
