Can you suggest any activities or things to do while staying in the Ripon area?
Due to the impressive location of Grantley Hall, guests can make the most of the Yorkshire Dales by hiring one of the electric bikes and touring the route of the Tour de Yorkshire, or donning their walking boots and exploring the woodlands, water garden and deer park of the local National Trust property, Fountains Abbey.
Ripon is a cathedral city steeped in history and home to magnificent historical buildings and long observed traditions. You will find a trio of award-winning museums and a gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7th century.
With a thriving marketplace located in the market square, guests will find many small streets and snickets that are home to the eclectic and specialist shops for which Ripon is so loved. Amongst them are cafes and pubs, offering refreshments and home-cooked food throughout the day.
For guests that wish to explore a little further, the town of Harrogate and the city of York are a short drive away. Steeped in history, both Harrogate and York have equally beautiful settings for a full day of shopping, eating, drinking and exploring.

The Fletchers restaurant offers all-day dining, the menu, served throughout the day, is comprised of British and European cuisine, made from the finest locally sourced seasonal produce.
The Orchard offers a relaxing outside-to-inside atmosphere where you can easily go from day to night, serving a superb spring/summer menu with lots of fresh fish, seafood, fresh and crisp salads, and premium cuts of meat.
Bar & Restaurant EightyEight offers a unique fusion of Yorkshire produce and far Eastern flavours. Design-led décor is set against the stunning backdrop of ornamental Japanese Gardens. EightyEight is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience.
Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall is a Michelin-star restaurant that takes guests on a culinary journey of the Yorkshire born chef. The restaurant showcases locally grown and sourced ingredients; taking advantage of the herbs and vegetables grown in the Kitchen Garden. Using only the best raw ingredients from hand-picked suppliers offering quality meat from nearby farms, specialty cheeses from across the county and fresh seafood from the nearby Yorkshire coast.

The Grantley Suite is located within the Garden Pavilion, offering plenty of natural daylight, a private bar, and a private terrace with direct access to the Japanese Garden, adding luxury to any occasion.
