Top 10 Hotels for Romantics by Dinah Hatch
"Dave and Davinia may well welcome you to Audley’s Wood with a loud cry and a friendly peck – well, guinea fowl can be like that. The hotel’s avian residents set the tone for Audley’s - smart, proud and very friendly. Think beautifully carved fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, excellent service and really good food and you have it about right here. We love the gilded mirrors and the dinner gong which really shout country house. If you really want to push the boat out, book the luxurious Jane Austen suite which boasts a large lounge with stunning oriental coffee table and bureau, its own fireplace and pretty lovely four poster. Fancy getting out and about? Take a nosey around Jane Austen’s house at Chawton to complete the Regency theme."

Review of Audleys Wood Hotel
Posted Marc SCustomer stayed Oct 2012
byWe had dinner in the Simmonds room. Really marvellous evening. Fine dining, even in the European way of speaking. Well balanced wines and well cooked platters. A pearl that has to be discovered one day. Ok, the price is high, but well worth the cost. An evening full of flavours and good, even excellent food. Gastronomic at least. If they can keep up this level or grow a little bit, 2 Rosettes and a M-star should be within reach.
