Overview

Mill End Hotel lies on the River Teign, in Dartmoor National Park, close to all the rugged beauty of the area, but just 10 minutes from the A30. The Two Moors Way is on the doorstep, so there is ample walking direct from the hotel, and the delightful village of Chagford is well worth a visit

What makes a stay at Mill End Hotel unique?

This former 15th century mill has undergone major refurbishment in 2018, yet it retains a charm and comfort that offers guests a home from home experience. See the water wheel turn whilst dining in the excellent 2 AA Rosette restaurant, or relax with luxury afternoon tea in a comfy sofa by a roaring fire in one of the lounges.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Mill End Hotel?

Mill End has 2 suites that couldn't be more different. The Teign Suite has a 6'6 bed, a traditional bathroom and a separate lounge area, furnished in tastefully elegant country style. The Wolf Suite has a mezzanine sleeping area, plus a luxury double ended bath, and a separate lounge and shower room on the lower level. This suite also has a balcony overlooking the river. All Junior Suites are spacious with super king beds and luxury finishes. 6 Superior Doubles offer charm and comfort, whilst the Standard King Doubles all make a great base to explore the wonders of Dartmoor.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Chagford area?

Chagford boasts four pubs, along with art galleries and tea rooms, and is just a gentle 25 minute walk along the river from Mill End. Dartmoor has a huge variety of attractions, and the walks are among the most scenic in the country. Castle Drogo overlooks the grounds, with various other National Trust properties close by.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

The 2 AA Rosette restaurant is truly one of the best in the area, with the finest local cuisine beautifully presented. The chefs take English classics and make them unique, so whether you enjoy rabbit pie or a superbly-cooked sirloin, this restaurant must not be missed. Four pubs are within walking distance for simpler fare.

We visited on Wednesday and Thursday for a surprise break for our friends birthday. Thank you for a lovely couple of days. We wish to say a special thank you to your chef for a memorable taster menu, this was far superior to similar menus we have experienced locally, including the Michelin starred establishment on the other side of the moors. We unfortunately were unable to dine on Thursday due to other commitments. Also we would like to say thank you to all the staff who were a credit to the hotel. I understand the gourmet menu is a bit of a trial at the moment but would ask if you were to make this a more regular option that we may be include in your future mailing list as it we would happily make the hours journey to experience it again. Once again thank you

Dear Nick, Tara and the team, We had a very relaxing few days with you last week, much needed and much enjoyed! Thank you all for making it so enjoyable and particularly thank you for the cream you gave us. Our 93 year old neighbour, who is crippled with arthritis was, thrilled with her delicious cream tea. I have tried to look up the cream on the internet and cannot find it. Could you possibly let me know where it comes from - thank you. If the weather men are correct, I think we are in for some Siberian weather - keep those cosy woodburners going!

After using the weekly email [Doggy Devon's Woof Weekly] I took myself, my wife and our Jack Russell Pepper to the Mill End Hotel for a winter break! Was truly a great suggestion and we had a brilliant break with the hotel and so accommodating for our Pepper! Great walks, food and beautiful views! So a very big thanks for the suggestion! Really made a great start to 2018.
