Motherwell was home to the largest steel works in Britain, however today the heavy industry has gone and large areas are undergoing redevelopment. There are many tourist attractions in the area including Strathclyde Country Park boasting watersports and 1100 acres of grounds. Also nearby is the Dalzell House & Country Park with its gardens, arboretum and woodlands.
