Discover the exciting History of Melford Hall

Melford Hall is one of East Anglia´s most celebrated Elizabethan houses that has changed little since 1578, and has been the home of the Hyde Parker family since 1786. The original panelling is still in the banqueting hall, which is filled with family portraits, also a Regency library, Victorian bedrooms and a fine collection of furniture and porcelain. On display is a small collection of memorabilia from Beatrix Potter, who was related to the Hyde Parker family. The garden contains some spectacular specimen trees and a banqueting house.

Inspirations

Melford Hall is part of the following Inspirations:

The Top Ten Places for a Family Break in Suffolk by Lisa Burn

"Built in the 16th century, Melford Hall has played host to distinguished guests, including Queen Elizabeth I and children’s story writer Beatrix Potter. A cousin of the Hyde Parker family – still owners of the hall today – the author drew inspiration from the house and grounds for her stories and paintings; her original Jemima Puddleduck toy still exists and is on display to visitors. Enjoy a picnic in the grounds, walk around the gardens or take part in a variety of activities and events for all ages."
