What is there to see and do at Beningbrough Hall, Gallery & Gardens?
The house is famous for its wonderful portrait array, which was created in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, and exhibitions and artists are regularly visited. The house provides a free audio guide to learn about both the romantic baroque furnishings and portraits and to make sure you take a good look out at the windows in the upper floors where the view overlooks the ancient city. Don't forget the Victorian laundry downstairs (a surprising reminder of the hard work undertaken below the stairs), the excellent Wilderness Play Area for kids and the wonderful home-cooked meals in the restaurant.
