Hopwood Park was designed by Harry Colt and is a superb mix of parkland and moorland. It measures 6,490 yards and is divided by a wide ravine with a brook winding through it and there are innumerable gullies. There are three holes of 500 yards and three more of 450-470 yards but accuracy as much as big hitting is needed. The course is a stiff test with the 453 yard sixth the toughest hole with a blind drive uphill and out of bounds to the right and trees both left and right. The 427 yard 12th is one of the most striking holes with a gully to carry with the drive and an approach to a raised green.
