Isle of Purbeck Golf Club
One of the most scenic courses in the South West, set in the Purbeck Hills high above Poole Harbour, Old Harry Rock and Sandbanks, the views over the water are stunning and distracting. The panorama from the downhill par four fifth green is the highlight, so linger before you tackle the tough uphill par-five that follows. Created in 1892, once owned by Enid Blyton, a mixture of heathland and links, with large bunkers, sloping fairways, and some quite long, hilly walks between green and tees over the 5,986-yard course, par 70. Accuracy is essential and, in summer especially, the ball can run into trouble unless the right line is chosen, especially on a windy day.
