The sounds of the sea and birds follow you as the course snakes around a spectacular coastline overlooking the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock, one of the world's largest bird sanctuaries, on the Edinburgh Golf Coast, at North Berwick. The sea borders ten holes from the eighth on a there-and-back lay out. The 148-yard Sea Hole, the 13th, is the shortest and also the trickiest on the course as an accurate shot to a blind green is essential if the ball is not to veer off the bank and into the sea on the right of the tee. Measuring 6,275 yards, par 70, each hole offers a new challenge and the tight fairways and fast greens make it a typical links.
