Ashburnham Golf Club
Cliffe Terrace, Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, SA16 0HN
Ashburnham’s lay-out is virtually the same today as it was when the reknown J H Taylor’s designing skills were employed in 1910 to alter a course that was created 14 years earlier. It has always been one of the toughest links courses in Wales, situated at Burry Port, near Llanelli on Carmarthen Bay. A regular Welsh championship course, the first two and final two holes are played inland near the clubhouse. Holes three to eight run parallel to the sea into the prevailing wind and holes nine to 15 have the benefit of a following wind. Out of bounds on the right in both directions are a danger. Welsh legend Dai Rees won the PGA title in 1959.
