Set within a secluded gritstone farm in the majestic High Peak, the official start of the Pennine Way. The Edale Gathering has four tented safari lodges featuring a wood-burning stove, an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, luxurious Hypnos beds, roll-top baths and showers with fluffy towels and hot running water. Each lodge sleeps six in a double and two twin rooms. The sunset verandas are kitted out with comfortable outdoor funiture, woollen rugs, fire cauldron and a gas BBQ. The lodges have views of sheep pastures surrounded by dry stone walls and the moorland beyond.
What do you think makes a stay at Edale Gathering unique?
The farm is the final farm before Kinder Scout's open moorland, and it is situated at the very top of Edale Valley. Although it is only a short journey to the pubs and cafes of Edale village, entering the farm gate places you in a sanctuary of peace and privacy.
What is there to see and do at Edale Gathering?
Across the hills, there are wonderful walks to pubs with the Trans Pennine network offering a simple train ride back home. The Peak District is not just a haven for walkers. There are numerous, difficult mountain bike trails, road routes and networks of former railway tracks that have been transformed into beautiful, family-friendly cycling pathways that cross viaducts and wind through the dales. This area is internationally acclaimed for its rock climbing and caving. Or for those that wish to take to the air, the best paragliding and gliding clubs are just over the hill.
There are many sports that can be played in the meadows, including badminton, rounders, football, soft tennis, cross-country croquet, and even cricket once the ground has firmed up in the summer and the wicket has been laid out.
Do you want something more relaxing? Why not book a reflexology, reiki, or deep tissue massage with Chloe Hopkin-Fisher right here at the Gathering?
