Explore the beautiful parklands of Petworth
Petworth House is a 705 acre parkland that has evolved from just a small garden containing fruit and vegetables in the 16th century. Enclosed by a 5 mile long stone wall, throughout the centuries well know designers such as George London and Capability Brown were commissioned to plant and construct the garden as we find it today. With glorious Autumn and Spring colours of daffodils and bluebells, fine shrubs and trees in particular the Japanese Maples, ornamental shrubs and rhododendrons. In the region of 40,000 trees have been planted over the last 15-20 years in keeping with the Brownian style.
