Overview

On the edge of the storybook village of Lacock, where honey-stone cottages line cobbled streets and time seems to slow, The Rectory offers a quietly luxurious escape that feels instantly comforting. Set within six acres of gardens and wildflower meadows, this Victorian rectory has been lovingly restored to create a space that’s both elegant and deeply restful.

Inside, it’s all high ceilings, sash windows and soft light – a palette of calming tones and thoughtful details that set the tone for slower, more intentional days. There are just a handful of guest rooms, each with crisp linens, deep mattresses and sweeping views over the garden or open fields beyond. Mornings begin with a breakfast worth lingering over: thick sausages sizzling in the pan, eggs collected fresh from the local farm, bowls of fruit and proper, strong coffee.

For those after more independence, two converted cottages in the former stables offer beautifully relaxed self-catering stays – each with its own garden and the option to link up for families or small groups.

Wander into Lacock and you’ll find cosy pubs, tearooms and the timeless charm of a National Trust village that’s starred in everything from Pride & Prejudice to Harry Potter. Beyond that, the best of Wiltshire awaits: Castle Combe, Bath, Bowood, Longleat and endless countryside walks.

Beautiful Rectory situated on the edge of Lacock village. Very well positioned for visiting the local area and Lacock Abbey and within walking distance of pubs and village shops. We were given a lovely welcome by Helen who showed us our room and explained everything we needed to know including how to get to the pub we had booked for that evening. The room was immaculate with plentiful complimentary snacks along with the usual tea and coffee etc. The en-suite shower room was particularly lovely, new and spacious. Breakfast was made to order and excellent. Helen and Wyatt were an absolute delight and we spent some considerable time chatting to them after breakfast. It’s a shame we were only staying one night but that’s given us an excuse to return!

Just returned from a one night stay here while going to Ibiza Classic at Bowood House. Wyatt gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived giving us all the info we needed to enjoy our stay. We stayed in ‘Maple’ which had a very comfy bed, good quality en suite facilities (shower cubicle with good pressure) and all your normal amenities. Also in the room was a nice selection of snacks (water peanuts, kettle chips & caramel bars) Breakfast is ordered the evening before, selecting your choices (GF options included) Helen greeted us at breakfast with coffee and orange juice, and then swiftly brought out the food. This B&B was a great find, Helen & Wyatt were amazing hosts and we’ll definitely be returning.

For our 3 day Spring tour of National Trust properties, we found The Rectory, Lacock - itself an historic building - an ideal base. we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Helen and Wyatt, who were justifiably proud of what they and their family had achieved in restoring The Rectory and its grounds. The Rectory is now not only a lovely home but also has very comfortable and well appointed bed and shower rooms, plus beautifully furnished sitting and dining rooms, all with views - and anything you could possibly wish for, for breakfast! In addition, our younger family enjoyed staying in the adjacent very well equipped cottage accommodation. We look forward to a return visit!

Thank you to Helen and Wyatt for being wonderful hosts to us. They accommodated our late arrival which we are most grateful for. The Rectory is such a beautiful home with so much character. Our room was divine - clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed chatting to both Helen and Wyatt, such a lovely couple who made us feel most welcome. We would certainly like to return some day soon as we never got to visit the Abbey. Lacock village is beautiful - there was a scarecrow festival on while we were there- everyone appeared to enjoy the trail! A village full of character and charm. Thank you Lacock. Thank you Helen and Wyatt. 🙏

As others have reported, the owners have spent several years renovating The Rectory into a beautiful B&B. We were welcomed after a long drive with a tour of the charming building on the way to our very comfortable room. Our room overlooked the garden and had all the amenities you could ask for. Breakfast was made to order (you place your order the next before) and served in the lovely dining room with its garden view. The Rectory is just a short walk into the history village of Lacock. We enjoyed walking around the quaint buildings and had some delicious meals there. Highly recommended!
