The New White Lion

We definitely recommend this hotel and location to anyone exploring the Brecon Beacons We stayed at the New White Lion for 3 nights at Easter. Mark and Karen were wonderful hosts (Poppy the spaniel too!), they received us a bit earlier than the arranged check-in and were very accommodating. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The chocolates in the room were a thoughtful plus. While doing the check in, Mark showed the Hotel facilities, of particualr interest was the lounge with a small but well stocked bar with excellent cakes made by Karen - all very tasty! The breakfast was a high point, outstanding! We ordered the cooked breakfast, which was amazing, accompanied by excellent coffee and pastries. The yoghurts made by Karen were particularly delicious. Mark and Karen are doing a brilliant job in running this little gem of a hotel. Llandovery, is an excellent location to explore the Brecon Beacons as well as South Wales. The town, although small, has quite a few nice pubs and cafes, a perfect place to stay for a weekend. We definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a very elegantly decorated guest house close to spectacular walking countryside. We stayed in William Williams room which was warm and cosy but never the less spacious. The twin bed was incredibly comfortable which is high praise indeed coming from the princess and the pea! The breakfast was delicious and literally kept us going all day. The honesty bar was very impressive with every drink you can imagine. There were complimentary teas, coffees, hot chocolates and home made cakes in the lounge as well as tea and coffee making facility in the bedroom. Every homely detail was considered in Mark and Karen’s place to make it an incredibly comfortable stay. They were the perfect hosts!

Fantastic in every way. Fabulous stay, highly recommend as a beautiful base to explore. The rooms are exceptional, immaculate, beautiful interiors each room is individually designed, superior fresh linen and a very comfortable sleep. Great selection of toiletries. Honesty bar available in a beautiful cosy lobby room. The breakfast was simply outstanding, I would say one of the very best breakfast I have had anywhere. Fresh local ingredients and presentation and taste was super. Location is great and central to local bars in the evening having spent the day exploring the Brecon beauty. Great hosts so friendly, will most definitely be returning

An excellent stopover when walking the Heart of Wales Line Trail A stylish and comfortable room in an attractive B&B in the centre of Llandovery. There were some lovely little touches in our room like hand made chocolates, Clinique toiletries and cakes available in the lounge. The breakfast was delicious. Mark and Karen were excellent hosts and went that extra mile. When we realised that the train service was disrupted, they immediately offered to pick us up at the end of our day’s walk which was much appreciated. Read less

Absolutely Fantastic! We had a wonderful time at the New White Lion! Mark and Karen are fantastic hosts! Our room was big, very clean and really cosy, perfect after a long trek over the beacons! Nice big bath, enormous bed, perfect temperature and all the normal facilities including some extra delicious treats! We loved the breakfast, the general atmosphere and how helpful Mark and Karen were throughout our stay. Free parking was directly behind the property so no long walk with heavy bags!

Arrived to be met by Karen and Mark. Put simply they couldn’t do enough for us. Karen makes the best cakes and freshly prepared breakfast everyday. Mark is super attentive. Well appointed rooms, stylishly decorated. Well placed for the Brecon Beacons. Highly recommended.

Everything! Wonderful beautifully furnished property. Amazing hosts, where nothing is too much trouble. There were so many nice touches, and a generosity in the hosting that is a rare quality.
