What could be more romantic than a stay in 'Shelley's Theatre' named after the great literary meastro, romantic poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. Guests can stay in the very area of the house where he penned his magnum opus 'Queen Mab' and conducted poetry recitals to a captive audience! A ‘possible’ assassination attempt took place here at Plas Tan-Yr-Allt in late February 1813 and as a result, Shelley and his entourage left never to return...Percy later went on to marry Mary Shelley the creator of ‘Frankenstein’.Some writers have even suggested that the ‘apparition’ he saw during that fateful February night, known as ‘Shelley’s Ghost‘, was the impetus behind Mary Shelley’s most famous creation...Can you find the bullet holes left in the wainscot?
Miss Hilda’s with its quaint Half Tester – Be wrapped up and cossetted by her old world charm whilst enjoying spectacular views over the Glaslyn Estuary to the sea and mountains beyond. Miss Hilda was known for her afternoon tea which was a splendid affair. During the afternoon carriages would arrive at regular intervals. Ladies bedecked in their latest finery, protected against the sun's glare by delicate parasols, would gather on the lawn. Coachmen and gentry alike ate extremely well, and they all said they loved to come to Plas Tan-Yr-Allt. Carrying on this delightful tradition guests can once again enjoy 'Miss Hilda's Classic Edwardian Cream Tea' taken in the Drawing Room or on the veranda during the summer months.
This Historic Country House is known for its warm, friendly, inviting hospitality and top notch service as well as all the prerequisites that go together in delivering a truly wonderful experience!
